Jesse Tree Ornaments and The Jesus Storybook Bible

Advent for our family is more than counting down the days until Christmas morning. It’s taking 3.5 weeks to celebrate the story of God’s great love for us and the greatest gift our family could receive — His son sent to reconcile us to Himself.

The Jesse Tree is traditionally an Advent calendar that walks through Jesus’s lineage throughout the Old Testament and ends on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning with the birth of Christ.

The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd Jones is one of the most captivating ways to hear these old familiar Bible stories.  Every story points to Jesus and is told in such a beautiful way.  Not to mention the illustrations are stunning.

I was so inspired by Jago's beautiful art, that I created simple felt Jesse Tree ornaments based on his illustrations in the Jesus Storybook Bible.  We have used them for the past two years and we LOVE them.  Bright, colorful, whimsy, and cheerful.

Every year the kids love to bounce around in anticipation of hanging the next ornament while not listening to a single word from the stories (in true toddler fashion).

I read this on a friend's Facebook wall:
Whether they hear or understand anything that is being read, just the act of gathering as a family to read God’s Word speaks volumes to your kids about the authority of Scripture.
A great reminder to not be discouraged as you invest in your children this holiday season and teach them the values and truths that are the most important in your family.
The tutorial for these ornaments can be found at my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/204641077/tutorial-for-24-jesse-tree-ornaments?ref=market
